What do doctors know?

So I may have ridden the stationary bike last night, against the wishes of my doctor. Since I got a perfect score on my last anatomy test, I am pretty sure I am smarter than he is anyway.

Who ever heard of not letting someone bike for weeks after knee surgery anyway? The guy is on crack with his "because it is a redo, lets take it ultra-slow" garbage. I never trust a man that shaves his arms and tans anyway. I trust my body and it was screaming "Weeeeaaaaawhooooooo". It liked and I had no pain. So suck it Mr. Eight Years of Medical School.

Woohoo!!!! I think there is still time to sign up for the Whiskey Off Road :). j/k Anyways, it's still exciting, and I'm happy to hear that it's pain free!!!

yeah in eight years of intense studying he didn't pick up anything about stubborn patients;) Take it easy on the leg and don' push too hard. You not seeing a physio?

@Hilton: He doesn't want me to go to therapy for a month because he is sloooowwwwww. He told me to do some of the basic stuff at home including ROM but no biking, lifting, etc. Thing is my ROM is awesome without even trying and my leg is painless to move around so biking seems logical in the fight to not lose all leg muscle. I am trying to be good, but if it doesn't hurt, it prob okay.

I remember when I tore my shoulder I got similar treatment. I came out of surgery I told the nurse I wanted to go home, she laughed I spent the next three days high on pain killers. I also wanted to get back as quickly as possible and didn't do everything the doc told me. Five years later and the effects are only starting to show and movement is a bit painful. I reckon if he says only another month I'd take it easy, maybe go for a swim if its your knee. This way you're still active and feel like you're doing something, this was my biggest problem. I love being active. A month in a lifetime of sweet memories, adventure and pushing the body doesn't seem like to much. I've heard knitting is the next big thing so you can beat the crowd;)

NICE! Biking ain't that bad on the knees, if your body is telling you to go for it and it feels good then good on ya!
Physio is always a good idea with a serious injury, but yeah, doctors don't know squat! Nine years of progressively stronger heart burn meds, six different doctors, camera's in my stomach and it turns out I was just allergic to wheat...which a friend's Mother solved for me!!! Screw em I say!
